There is a wealth of information out there about the various candidates.  However a few sites lend themselves to easy and accurate citation.  I do not write with out having some basis for my assertions and I promise to you that each and every comment you will ever read from me will be researchable via links or Citations that I provide.  The following is the fruit of my labors in researching Rick Santorum.  All information can be accessed through the following link.

After the suprizing show in Iowa by former Senator Rick Santorum I thought it would be wise to show where he stands on a few issues. First let me say that I am not at all biased I dislike all the candidates equally. However with that said I also want to say Santorum scares me and so I feel that it is necessary to make known what kind of man we are risking our country with.

We all know Mr. Santorum is a Ultra-Right Wing Conservative but what exactly does that mean?  Well according to Votesmart.org Mr. Santorum has Voted against the people of the United States more often than not.  He had the opportunity to save countless American Lives in July of 2007 by Requiring that G.W. Bush withdraw the troops in Iraq by that date.  In a vote on S AMDT 4442- Troop Redeployment Amendment then Senator Santorum voted Nay. He would have rather continued a war that was costing the United States lives and money instead of pulling out and allowing the Iraqis to run their own country.

Before that Mr. Santorum voted to reject a treaty that Banned Nuclear Weapons testing and created greater oversight to nuclear energy production among 44 nation states. (Treaty Doc. 105-28 )

In terms of the wellbeing of the people of our Nation Mr. Santorum has an even worse track record.

Mr. Santorum voted against a Minimum wage increase that would have raised the minimum wage to 7.25 in two years-from 2006 but on the very same day he voted for a Minimum wage increas to only 6.25 within a year and a half. Fortunately for the Citizens of the US the amendment for an increase of up to 7.25 passed in spite of Santorums Vote.  The two bills  were S AMDT 4322 and S AMDT 4376 respectively.  Sadly S AMDT 4322 was later withdrawn.

Again however Mr. Santorum shows us his compassion for mankind when he voted against S AMDT 2259.  This was a resolution to increase funding for AIDS Drugs Assistance to patients in need by 74 Million dollars.

The List goes on, Mr. Santorum voted against the Hurricane Victims Tax Benefit Amendment (S AMDT 2602) and against the Hate Crimes Amendment (S AMDT 3473) which expanded the definitions of Hate Crimes to include Sexual orientation, Gender and Disability. 

And Last but not least in terms of Mr. Santorums voting record-- S J Res 12--Flag Desecration Constitutional Amendment.  This amemndment sought to make burning the US Flag illegal under the Constitution itself and thus taking away one aspect of free speech protected by the Supreme Court in 1989 in Texas V. Johnson.  Mr. Santorum voted yea and was willing to infringe upon your rights to symbolic expression.  Is this what we want?

Heres the thing I want to impress upon you.  Mr. Santorum has voted against things that would better our nation and our world more often than not.  He has touted his orthodox Christian beliefs as the reason he behaves as he does and yet he has acted antithetically to those beliefs. Karl Marx said that religion is the Opiate of the Masses-- Mr. Santorum is living proof.  As long as he claims to be in line with religous orthodoxy there are Hundereds of thousands who will follow him in their pacified opiated state. We have to show his lack of compassion to the nation, Expose him for what he truly is.  Power hungry and the closest we will have ever come to a police state and dictator. 

I don't mean to be a fear monger, I only seek to enlighten you to the dangers that we face as socialists in todays day and age.  If Rick Santorum manages to become the Republican candidate for President and by some odd twist of circumstance becomes President we can most assuradly see civil liberties and progress be eliminated in a short span of time.
