Robert Mills added a discussion to the group Democratic SocialistsA subtle and dangerous form of Fascism has already supplanted our Republican form of democracy, and persist in the takeover of this democracy. This form of facism was definitively proclaimed by Bennitto Mussilini, when he declared that corporatism was fascism. The big mega-corporations have succeeded in taken over and are in control of both political parties, are redistricting the political map of America, and are receiving tax benefit which were at one time unthinkable. These very same powers seek by means of the effort by Republicans and other conservative forces to call for a Constitutional Convention to redefine the entire constitution and the bill of rights.
A determined and informed resistence movement is necessary to restore Democracy and to defend the ideal of government of the people, by the people and for the people. If anyone of us are sincerely wanting to remain a democracy, we need to organize, to stand up against this dangerous trend and not allow our elected officials be pursuaded with gund pointed at their head. The two party system under corporatism is a sham, and it makes the possibility of alternative thirdd party systems virtually impossible. On the surface, our current system appears to be two party, but in practice, so long as corporatism is in control of the House, the Senate and the office of the Presidency, we have one singular party serving the interest of the mega mutlnational party which disguises itself as the new world order and is the 'shadow government' which the former President Bush called into existence following 9/11 and which is calling the shots in governance. And this 'shadow government' while not yet in complete control, threatens the very livelihood and existence of democracy by the people, of the people and for the people. This form of fascism pretends to be democracy, but it ever increases it's hold invisibly on the people through consumerism, materialism and pseudo-patriotism.
We need to reclaim the government at the grassroots, to restore confidence in our electoral system and this can only be accomplished by means of a grassroots determination and a renewed progressive populist movement. Indeed it may very well mean the call for a new American Revolution.
